On September 9 and 10, in Kipsala, during Riga Food 2016 exhibition was held a 4th Tea Masters Cup Latvia where tea masters and enthusiasts competed in mastership of tea preparation, art of composition, and tea tasting.
Tea Masters Cup Latvia is held with an aim to mold and preserve high tea drinking culture, promoting exchange of experience among professionals and popularization of this tasty and healthy beverage among consumers.
Tea Masters Cup in Kipsala Hall was held in three nominations. On September 9 championship participants demonstrated mastership of tea brewing, on September 10 competed in the art of composition and tea tasting. First in time Tea Tasting was held in two subnomination. Pure tea tasting and mixing herbs.
Free style brewing performances. Denis Shumakov presents wild Taiwanese teas. Farhadzha Gumerov presents close-eyed brewing technics. Oleg Onopchenko presents diagnostic practise of tea drinking.
The leading persons of 4th Tea Masters Cup Latvia are Yury Podusov and Gundega Silniece. Sound designer is Vadim Chirkov. Administrators: Margarita Strellere and Elizaveta Burhanova.
The judges of the championship were a team of experts headed by Denis Shumakov (Chairman of the Advisory Board at Tea Masters Cup). The other judges were: the head of school of tea sommeliers Farhat Jah Gumerov (Russia), the founders of Latvian tea company Apsara Andris Purvins and Ikars Keiss, Plusma company consultant Oleg Mezeckis (Latvia), and a musician of Agni band Roman Hodirev (Latvia).
The results of the tournament was a small sensation — an acting Lutheran priest, a pastor of the Lutheran Russian community at the New Church of St.Gertruda Pavils Levuskans became a Latvian champion in Tea Preparation nomination. Pastor Pavils is researching the tea culture for many years, and also performs tea ceremonies for the parishioners of the church after the worship. Apart from that he is a personal coach, consultant in integral development, and a coach of awareness and mindfulness practices.
The winner of the Tea Pairing nomination is a tea master Andrei Ivanov, and the winner of Tea Tasting is fitness coach Dace Suharzevska.
The winners of Tea Masters Cup Latvia will go to the finals of the world championship Tea Masters Cup International, where they are going to demonstrate Latvian tea culture in the fight for the title of the best tea master on an international level.
